Paint and Chat

Unwind, chat, and create at Paint and Chat in Gungahlin—an art experience designed to spark creativity and connection. Held at the Gungahlin Community Centre, this two-hour visual art workshop offers adults (and teens 16+) a relaxed, supportive setting to explore composition, colour, and personal expression inspired by the wonder of Floriade—with helpful guidance from artist and educator Marianne Mettes.

Whether you’re a novice or someone looking to reignite artistic confidence, you’ll enjoy hands-on learning, plenty of encouragement, and a finished piece you’ll be proud to hang at home. All materials are provided, plus complimentary tea or coffee to sip as you create. You’ll learn easy, effective techniques to build depth and detail — and walk away with your own finished artwork, ready to display with pride!

To celebrate the Floriade spirit, themes may echo floral motifs and colourful blooms, offering inspiration while promoting personal interpretation. Each session is a small, intimate gathering—perfect for friendly chats and creative discovery. Attendees have described the atmosphere as “safe,” “unique,” and “inspiring,” and appreciated Marianne’s thoughtful guidance and easy-going teaching style at Access Art Academy.

Seats are limited to ensure a cosy environment to get to know your creative locals. Whether you’re dipping a toe into painting for the first time or simply seeking a convivial creative evening, Paint and Chat offers both connection and artistry in equal measure.
