As a vibrant lead-in to the main Windows to the World weekend, a special showcase will take place on Saturday 11 October at Commonwealth Park at Floriade. A selection of embassies will host pop-up displays, offering visitors a sneak peek into the cultures and experiences featured in the upcoming program.

Enjoy traditional performances, sample authentic food and drinks, and explore exhibits featuring traditional clothing and cultural displays. It’s a unique opportunity to travel the world in a day at Floriade.

Windows to the World offers a unique opportunity to step inside some of the city’s embassies and high commissions and explore international architecture, gardens, culture, and traditions without leaving the capital. Windows to the World returns to Canberra on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025.

  • Table Setup and Decoration with Traditional Symbols
  • The display area will be decorated with authentic Kosovar elements, folk motifs, the national flag, and other representative cultural symbols.
  • Traditional Food
  • Flija – a layered dish made with water, flour, and oil, baking in oven grill every line at a time until the layer is filled.
  • Pie with Cheese and Spinach – a baked pastry filled with a traditional mixture of cheese and spinach.
  • Other traditional products – such as ajvar – made by grounded red capsicum, Greek yogurt, and white feta cheese (products are allowed and bought in Australia, some of them are found at the Mediterranean stores or in the international sectors of Coles).
  • Presentation of Kosovo in the background screen
  • We are planning to have a short videos playing in the background of a TV screen showcasing Kosovo’s culture, nature, history, and modern life.
  • Informational brochures and QR codes linked to official websites and tourism pages for visitors to learn more about Kosovo, and some other marketing materials for Kosovo.
  • Cultural activities
  • A short quiz with simple questions about Kosovo in general, and Small symbolic gifts will be given to people who participate in the quiz, a printed window frame like photo booth with cultural backdrops for people who want to take any photo.

Windows to the World offers a unique opportunity to step inside some of the city’s embassies and high commissions and explore international architecture, gardens, culture, and traditions without leaving the capital.

This biennial event opens the gates to a number of diplomatic embassies across Canberra, allowing the public to enjoy guided tours, cultural performances, traditional food and drink, and interactive displays from across the globe. It’s a chance to learn more about international diplomacy and experience the rich multicultural landscape that contributes to Canberra’s global identity.
