Getting to Floriade

Floriade is on from Saturday 12 September to Sunday 11 October 2026, with pedestrian access to the Floriade site between 9:30am and 5:30pm.

Bikes will still need to use the purple paths around the fenced site, and pedestrians will need to use these paths outside of opening hours.

Bicycle Access Routes
No pedestrian access before 9:30am or after 5:30pm. No cycle access at all times.

We encourage you to ride your bike to Floriade. Please note that in the interest of public safety, all forms of bicycles and tricycles, including hand-propelled tricycles, are not permitted within the grounds of Floriade. This excludes mobility scooters, which are permitted in the Floriade site.

Bicycle racks are provided close to each Floriade entry gate. Make sure you bring your own lock and chain.

Provision can be made for tricycles to be stored at any of the entry gates, however Floriade takes no responsibility for theft or damage and space is limited.

Scooters are another great option to get to Floriade from your car park or bus stop. Please be aware though that scooters are not allowed to be ridden in the Floriade site.

In the interest of public safety, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades/skates are not permitted within the gates of Floriade. This excludes mobility scooters, which are permitted in the Floriade site. Bike racks will be available at each of the Floriade gates, but you will need to provide your own lock and chain.

Provision can be made for skateboards, rollerblades and scooters to be stored at any of the entry gates, however Floriade takes no responsibility for theft or damage and space is limited.

Please note that due to construction works, there are changes to the closest bus stops to Commonwealth Park.

Taxi and rideshare services can drop off passengers on Regatta Place, near the Regatta Point Entry to Floriade.

Parking in this area is strictly prohibited. 

The Light Rail stops in the city one block from London Circuit.

From there you can follow the Floriade Walking Trail to Commonwealth Park, which takes a round 15 minutes.

Due to the ongoing works relating to the extension of light rail services and other capital works underway in the city, access to some of the carparks in the vicinity of Commonwealth Park that are normally used by visitors to Floriade is now limited.

The team are looking at options to make getting to Floriade as easy as possible, and we will post information on alternative transport and parking options soon.

Parking at Regatta Point and Acton Park is very limited. Motorists are encouraged to consider other public parking options within walking distance of Floriade including the Canberra Centre, CIT Reid, off London Circuit, and off Edinburgh Avenue.

There is also public parking available in the National Triangle, however, capacity will vary between weekdays and weekends.

A Floriade Shuttle Bus will service several of these parking locations from 9:30am to 5:30pm each day. More information available soon.

Ongoing construction and infrastructure projects across the city may affect access, parking availability, traffic conditions, and pedestrian routes in and around the city centre and surrounding precincts.

Parking capacity and access arrangements can change as works progress. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time where possible.

A FREE shuttle will loop the city every day of the event and also from the National Triangle (Parkes) on weekends. We encourage you to park closer to this route and take advantage of riding this free service.

Alternate parking is available in the following car parks. Instructions on how to get to Floriade from the car park is included below.

1. Canberra Olympic Pool  36 Constitution Avenue  –  Walk over the Parkes Way footbridge to enter Floriade through Parkes Way Gate
2.  CIT Reid at the corner of Constitution Avenue and Coranderrk Street – Cross over Coranderrk Street at the lights heading to the Civic Pool, then walk over the Parkes Way footbridge at the end of Allara Street. This will allow you to enter Floriade through the Parkes Way Gate. OR Go through the underpass under Parkes Way in front of the new Griffin Development and enter Floriade through Nerang Pool Gate.
3. National Convention Centre multi-storey car park on Constitution Avenue – Walk over the Parkes Way footbridge to enter Floriade through Parkes Way Gate
4. Wilson New Action carpark at 1Phillip Law St – Cross over the Parkway footbridge at the end of Kendal Lane and follow the bike route around to the main entrance at Regatta Point.

Free parking for people with limited mobility is available adjacent to the Regatta Point Entry Gate (access off Commonwealth Avenue). Parking is limited and vehicles must display an authorised disability parking permit. Please note, interstate and overseas disability parking permits are also valid for this parking area.

Pick-up and set-down at the Regatta Point Entry Gate is permitted for passengers with restricted mobility. Parking in the pick-up and set-down zone is strictly prohibited.

Pickup & Set Down

There will be restricted drop off/pickup spaces outside the Floriade Main Gate on Regatta Place in front of the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre, to enable coaches to drop off and pick up. Vehicles will be required to turn off Barrine Drive onto Regatta Place.

Signage will be positioned to guide vehicles and designate the drop off/pick up area. A Traffic Controller will also be positioned at the intersection of Regatta Point and the designated thoroughfare parking bay to communicate the process to vehicles.

Set-down and pick-up is permitted at Regatta Point however coach and bus parking in this location is prohibited.

Bus/Coach Parking

During the event, the Regatta Point bus and coach parking area will not be available.

Due to construction works, no coach and bus parking is available at Acton Park carpark, West Basin.

After dropping off passengers, buses and coaches can seek parking at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in bays 11 and 12; however, availability may be limited due to other scheduled activity in the area. Further information on availability will be confirmed, so please check back for more information.

The entrance to the coach parking at the AIS is on Braybrooke Street which can be accessed either via Battye Street or Ginninderra Drive. The AIS has a café onsite, as well as public restroom facilities, which is located within the visitors’ centre.

Alternatively, you can try the below coach bays which have limited first come-first served parking.

• Mall Road West, behind Questacon | 7-8 spaces

• Lennox Crossing, National Museum of Australia| 3-4 spaces

• Akuna Street, adjacent to Glebe Park | 3-4 spaces

• Alinga Street, behind the Novotel | 3 spaces

• Museum of Australian Democracy, King George Terrace | 5-6 spaces

Canberra Airport is located a short 25 minute drive from Commonwealth Park.

Driving to Canberra is a breeze. Australia’s capital is a three hour drive from Sydney and an eight hour drive from Melbourne. Once in Canberra, visitors to Floriade can walk, ride bikes, catch public transport or the Floriade Shuttle, drive, take a taxi or rideshare to Commonwealth Park.
