A Taste of Spring Around Town

Floriade’s blooms might be the main attraction, but this spring the celebration extends well beyond the garden beds. Across Canberra, chefs, cafés, restaurants and hospitality venues are embracing the Feast of Flowers theme with exclusive menus, seasonal produce, creative dining experiences and unforgettable culinary events.

For those seeking something truly special, Les Bistronomes is hosting a one-night-only six-course dining experience inspired by the magic of spring. Chef Clément Chauvin’s carefully curated menu celebrates seasonal produce and edible nature through a distinctly French lens, capturing Canberra in bloom one course at a time.

At the Australian National Botanic Gardens, Pollen is offering one of the festival’s most unique experiences. Visitors can pre-order a beautifully prepared picnic basket and enjoy a garden-to-plate feast among the spring blooms. With only 39 keepsake picnic baskets available across the season, it’s a memorable way to experience Floriade in a completely different setting.

As the afternoon sun begins to dip, Lunetta Trattoria invites visitors to embrace the Italian tradition of aperitivo. Its daily La Festa dei Fiori experience transforms the Red Hill terrace into a spring-inspired piazza, where oysters, wine and panoramic views combine to create one of Canberra’s most picturesque dining experiences.

For those looking to continue the celebrations into the evening, The Howling Moon offers a rooftop perspective on spring. With panoramic city views, signature cocktails and woodfired pizza, it’s the ideal place to unwind after a day exploring Floriade or before heading to NightFest.

Food lovers can also enjoy a truly unique evening at Grainger Gallery, where art, flowers and exceptional cheese come together for Fromage, Fizz and Floral Feast. The exclusive long-table experience features sparkling wine, artisan cheeses, live jazz and insights from internationally renowned cheese expert Will Studd.

Lakeside dining takes centre stage at the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club, where a specially curated cocktail dinner pairs five handcrafted cocktails with a four-course menu inspired by the colours, aromas and flavours of spring.

For a more casual bite, The Cupping Room is celebrating the season with colourful specials including its Cherry Blossom iced matcha and a vibrant Spring Bowl packed with fresh seasonal ingredients. Nearby, Badger & Co is tempting visitors with a limited-edition Floriade French Toast topped with edible petals, while BentSpoke BrewPub is showcasing seasonal dishes including stuffed zucchini flowers drizzled with hops honey and a spring lamb rump.

Cheese lovers won’t want to miss Amici Wine Bar & Deli, where a floral-inspired menu is joined by the return of the venue’s famous one-kilogram baked brie, while Snapper & Co is keeping things simple with oysters, cocktails and relaxed waterfront afternoons.

For those keen to venture beyond the city, Lerida Estate is offering a four-course seasonal dining experience inspired by the journey from seed to bloom, celebrating the best of local produce and wine in the Canberra region.

Whether you’re packing a picnic, indulging in French fine dining, enjoying a sunset aperitivo or simply stopping for brunch between blooms, Floriade About Town offers countless ways to savour Canberra’s spring season.
