Getting to Floriade

Floriade is held in Commonwealth Park in Canberra.

You can get to Floriade in different ways.

By car

You can drive to Floriade.
There are parking areas near Commonwealth Park.
Accessible parking spaces are available for people with a permit at Regatta Point.

By bus

You can take a bus to Floriade.
Buses stop near Commonwealth Park.
Check bus times before you travel on Transport Canberra’s website here.

By walking or cycling

You can walk or ride a bike to Floriade.
There are paths around the park.
Bike racks are available near the entrances.

Drop-off

You can be dropped off close to the Regatta Point Entry.
This can make it easier if you have limited mobility.

Visitors are advised to expect some changes to traffic and parking conditions in and around the city due to the ongoing construction of Canberra’s light rail network.

Accessible transport options include free Floriade Weekend Express buses and the Floriade Daily Shuttle, both services are wheelchair accessible.

Free accessible parking is available near the Regatta Point Entry Gate (via Commonwealth Avenue).

Spaces are limited and require a valid disability parking permit, including those issued interstate or overseas.

A designated pick-up and drop-off zone is located at the Regatta Point Entry Gate for passengers with limited mobility.

A free Floriade Shuttle bus connects many of the precinct carparks to the Floriade gates.

Getting Around Floriade

Floriade is located in Commonwealth Park, on a four-hectare site.

Floriade is located on a four-hectare site.

The circuit around Floriade is approximately 1.6km and contains sealed and compacted gravel pathways. Many of the entertainment and dining hubs are located on grass.

The Floriade train operates through the event and is a lovely way to see and move around the site. The Floriade train is not wheelchair accessible.

A limited number of wheelchairs, walking frames, electric mobility scooters and strollers will be available for hire from the Mobility Marquee. The Floriade train will also be in operation and is a lovely way to see and move around the site.

Accessibility support at Floriade

What’s available to support your visit.

A Changing Places facility will be available and includes:

  • An adult-sized, height-adjustable change table
  • A ceiling-mounted hoist system
  • A peninsula-style toilet
  • Space for two carers if needed
  • A safe, clean and private environment
  • An automatic door with clear signage and controlled access

A dedicated Parents and Carers Room will be available at Floriade.

Sensory Hour will run from 9:30am until 10:30am on weekdays during Floriade (not including public holidays).

During this hour there will be limited amplified sounds and stage performances to create a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, offering a sensory friendly experience at Floriade for individuals with sensory processing challenges.

Assistance Animals

Trained and accredited assistance animals are welcome throughout Floriade, including all outdoor areas of Commonwealth Park. Handlers must ensure animals are on a lead and under control at all times.

For safety reasons, staff may request to see accreditation (for example, a certificate, token or harness) or other evidence to demonstrate that the animal is properly trained.

Please note: Pets and non-assistance animals are not permitted within the event site, except on Sunday 11 October, when Floriade welcomes pooches big and small to Dogs’ Day Out.

Companion Cards

Companion cards are accepted with NightFest ticket sales.

To arrange your NightFest ticket purchase with a Companion Card, please email events@act.gov.au and include proof of your card and the date of the event you are attending. Companion Cards are accepted to support accessible attendance at NightFest.
