Floriade Terms and Conditions of Entry

The following conditions of entry apply to all patrons who enter Floriade or Floriade NightFest.

Patrons are not permitted to bring the following items into the Floriade site:

  • All animals, except assistance (guide, hearing or service) animals. All assistance animals must remain well behaved and in control of the handler at all times. Poorly controlled animals seen barking, lunging, or being aggressive will be asked to leave the park for the safety of other patrons.
  • Other dogs are only allowed on the site on Dogs’ Day Out on Sunday 13 October
  • BYO alcohol
  • Glass
  • Bicycles, tricycles (including hand propelled tricycles), roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, foot propelled scooters, electric scooters (excluding mobility devices), segways or other wheeled devices.
  • Drones and other remote-control devices.
  • Weapons such as knives or any device that has potential to cause injury or public nuisance.
  • Incendiary devices including flares and fireworks.
  • Any prohibited or illegal substance.
  • Entry to Floriade is free, but charges may apply for some activities within the Floriade site. Floriade NightFest is a ticketed event.
  • Gates open at 9.30am and close at 5.30pm each day. Last entry to Floriade is at 5.15pm, except during NightFest (3-6 October) when last entry is at 5pm. All patrons will be required to exit the Floriade site by 5.30pm when the gates will be locked.
  • Management reserves the right to inspect and search bags brought into or out of the Floriade site.
  • Bicycles and tricycles may be parked at the bicycle racks provided at the entry gates. Roller blades, roller skates, skateboards and hand propelled tricycles may be stored inside the entry booths by Floriade staff.
  • Patrons bringing personal items to Floriade do so at their own risk.  The Australian Capital Territory will not be held responsible for any damage to, loss or theft of personal property, whether brought into the Floriade site or deposited at storage facilities outside.
  • Patrons are admitted at their own risk. The Australian Capital Territory will not be held responsible for the death or injury of any patron during their attendance at Floriade.
  • Patrons agree to indemnify the Australian Capital Territory against liability in respect of all claims, costs and expenses and for all loss, damage, injury or death to persons or property caused by the patron in connection with their attendance at Floriade, except to the extent that the Australian Capital Territory caused the relevant loss, damage or injury.
  • The Floriade site must not be used for any political or other demonstration.
  • Signs and banners are not permitted inside Floriade and must not be displayed on any fence surrounding the Floriade site.
  • Unless approved by Management, the sale of goods or services, or the conduct of charitable collections, raffles and fundraisers is not permitted within Floriade or the Floriade precinct including adjoining car parks and Commonwealth Park grounds.
  • Unless approved by Management, the distribution of brochures, flyers, pamphlets or vouchers of any kind is not permitted within Floriade or the Floriade precinct including adjoining car parks and Commonwealth Park grounds.
  • Unless approved by the Management, buskers or other performers are not permitted to perform at Floriade or within the Floriade precinct including adjoining car parks and Commonwealth Park grounds.
  • Patrons must obey all signs, notices and directions given by Management.
  • A Sensory Hour will run from 9am until 10am on weekdays (excluding Public Holidays and Wednesday 2 October). During this hour the sound will be turned down creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere to provide a sensory friendly experience at Floriade for people with sensory processing challenges.
  • Access to venues or activities may be limited to ensure comfort for all patrons.
  • All patrons attending Floriade during the advertised sensory hour should be respectful and considerate of the needs of other patrons who may have sensory processing challenges, and who may be over or under sensitive to sound, light, smell, taste and/or touch.

Animals are not permitted to enter Floriade, except:

  • assistance (guide, hearing or service) animals which are trained to alleviate the effects of a person’s disability and to meet the standards of hygiene and behaviour that are appropriate for an animal in a public place.
  • dogs (excluding assistance animals) are only permitted on site during Dogs’ Day Out on Sunday 13 October.

The following conditions apply:

  • All dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
  • Dogs and owners remain on designated paths and do not enter any garden bed at any time.
  • Dogs (excluding assistance animals) must not enter any indoor food venues, outlets or preparation areas.
  • As per ACT law, owners must dispose of their dog’s waste responsibly.
  • Dogs must be fully vaccinated.
  • Dogs must be socialised and non-aggressive/reactive to people or other dogs.

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of patrons, Management reserves the right to:

  • refuse entry at their discretion;
  • refuse entry to, or evict any person deemed to be intoxicated or affected by a prohibited substance;
  • refuse entry to, or evict any unauthorised person; and refuse entry to any person who attempts to bring any restricted or prohibited item into the Floriade site.
  • Floriade is a licensed event;
  • it is an offence for minors to purchase and consume liquor;
  • it is an offence to purchase liquor for, or supply liquor to minors; and
  • persons supplying liquor to minors will be reported to the police and penalties apply under the ACT Liquor Act 2010.

Floriade is a smoke-free event and smoking or vaping is not permitted within the Floriade site.

The ACT Government will have a photographer and videographer onsite during the event taking photographs and video of performances, activities, workshops, exhibits and the crowd including small groups and individuals.

By entering the event site, you consent to being included in any photography or videography taken at this event, and used, without permission or compensation by the ACT Government.

For close up shots of children under 12 years, verbal consent will be requested from a parent.

Images and footage may be used in communications and promotional material, such as newsletters, websites, social media, videos, and other materials, including use by ACT Government portfolio ministers and approved third parties.
