Cockington Green Gardens: Artful Floriade Festivities
Barbara Torkington is one of Canberra’s most talented porcelain artists, having won numerous awards. Cockington Green Gardens has exhibited and sold Barbara’s special pieces for many years. Barbara has created many unique pieces capturing Cockington Green Gardens’ model buildings and gardens.
These unique pieces include scenes from the outdoor international displays hand-painted on rare and antique Royal Winton and China Tea Sets.
This unique one-of-a-kind display was created to support fund-raising for our charity partner, the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), with whom we have had a long and special partnership.
Visit Cockington Green Gardens between 14 September and 13 October to see Barbara’s work on display.
Cockington Green Gardens: A Work of Art
Local award-winning artist Isla Patterson has captured Cockington Green Gardens model buildings and gardens in her artworks for many years. We are excited to exhibit her works in a unique outdoor setting, which portrays many of the Garden’s famous displays. This special outdoor exhibition is being held in advance of a soon-to-be-released book, Cockington Green Gardens: a work of art, as captured in the paintings of Isla Patterson.
This unique outdoor exhibition of Isla’s work will run from 14 September to 13 October 2024 and will complement some of Isla’s original works on display in our Rose Room.
Cockington Green Gardens, a unique part of Canberra’s landscape for 45 years, offers an experience like no other. Our immaculate gardens burst with fabulous spring colour, from blossoming trees to 17,000 annuals and 7,000 spring bulbs. Lush green lawns invite you to relax and enjoy the beauty.
But the real magic lies within the stunning gardens, where you can explore the world in miniature. Handcrafted miniature buildings from around the world create a fascinating landscape, with fun scenes and interactive displays that are a hit with kids and adults alike.
And what better way to complete your visit than with our famous homemade scones in our coffee shop, where you can also marvel at the amazing 34-room dollhouse and art displays from local artists.
