Preparations are well and truly underway for Floriade: Reimagined 2020 and Icon Water is providing a huge helping hand.
As Floriade enters its 33rd year, the event will undergo its biggest change yet as the nearly one million bulbs and annuals that would have been planted in Commonwealth Park are now planted across Canberra.
The Floriade Community program is an integral part of Floriade: Reimagined with community organisations coming together to plant and grow nearly 300,000 bulbs and annuals to expand the reach of Floriade even further. This initiative has been embraced by the Canberra community with 88 groups joining the program to lend their support.
In late May, one of the Floriade community groups, Kingston Barton Residents Association reached out to Icon Water for assistance with watering their bulbs. With limited options nearby, they had been relying on local businesses to assist with watering. Upon receiving the request, Icon Water wanted to provide wider support for the initiative and has agreed to help all the Floriade Community participants with water for their garden beds.
Icon Water will cover the watering costs for groups who can access watering systems and has also arranged for tankers to water gardens for groups who don’t have access to watering options. With a keen focus on water conservation, Icon Water has arranged for recycled water to be used for watering many of the bulbs and annuals.
“It’s been a particularly challenging year for Canberrans and we want to provide our support” said Icon Water Managing Director Ray Hezkial. A huge thank you to Icon Water for their support in ensuring Floriade: Reimagined 2020 blooms this year.
