Floriade opens its gates to a world of fluffy fun on Sunday
13 October 2019 from 9.30am to 5.30pm for Dogs’ Day Out.
All pups, big and small, are invited to explore Floriade with
their owners. We’ve got impressive displays, pampering, photos and lots of tail-wagging
activities to keep everyone smiling.
Here’s your checklist for a cheery day.
Dancing with dogs
Yep, you read that right. Watch a dog dancing demonstration followed by a 45-minute lesson to teach your clever canine (and you) some basic tricks. An award-winning coach will be bow-wowing the crowd.
Sit, stay for photos
Calling all Pugs! Calling all Dalmatians! Line up your German Shepherds and Greyhounds and Poodles. Our collective breed photos will take place at half-hour intervals throughout the day. Check the pup-arazzi program to find out when your dog’s breed will be photographed.
And let’s all take a moment to think of our patient
photographer (don’t work with children or animals, they said…).
Fashions on the field
Think your dog is the most fashionable? It’s your chance to prove it at our fashions on the field. Show us how worldly your pooch is by dressing them in outfits inspired by global politics, culture, food or animals. See how well you can capture the theme of Globe Trotting.
4Paws Massage will be at Floriade to provide your fluffy pal with a professional massage or simply as a special relaxation treat for a happier dog. In addition to this, they will be providing relaxing treatments such as pedicures, paw pad treatments and a small pup-cafe.
This will be a comfortable, calming area for dogs to relax and enjoy at Dogs’ Day Out.
Take some time out at Doga
Every dog needs to step away from the hectic pace of life and take some time for themselves from time to time. Doga provides the perfect opportunity to do so. Our lovely instructor will guide you through a series of yoga postures, stretching, meditation and play, giving you and your pooch a non-traditional form of yoga exploring movement and play dynamics in a mindful way.
Join the RSPCA gang to learn more about being a responsible dog owner. They’ll be providing great tips on training and care, plus the children will love the interactive ‘Kids and Kritters’ sessions – all on the Main Vista Village Stage.
Good doggies, please
To keep all our owners and pooches (plus anyone else
wandering around) safe, please only bring your pooch to Dogs’ Day Out if they
are socialised and generally non-aggressive towards people and other dogs. Make
sure they’re fully vaccinated, and keep them on a leash at all times.
Bring a doggie bag (or a few) as it’s ACT law to dispose of
their poops responsibly.
Please stick to the designated paths and don’t let your pet enter
the flowerbeds at any time.
There’s lots of tasty food on offer for the humans, but please
don’t let your dog into the indoor food venues.
