Immerse yourself within two magnificent lighting installations, indulge in delicious food and beverages, as well as soak up the fun festival atmosphere – surrounded by the beauty and scent of those million or so blooms.

Put your sunglasses away, it’s time to explore Floriade’s dark side – an illuminated wonderland awaits!

Thursday is for celebrating

Prepare for a spectacular opening night of NightFest. Join in a lantern making workshop and then showcase your creation in the NightFest lantern parade which will feature a selection large scale lanterns and illuminated Puppets, or the adults only world of whiskey may be more your style! Mitch Tambo, The Baker Boys and Los Chavos will be taking to Stage 88 to celebrate the start of NightFest.

Friday is for dancing

Join the crowd with live performances by Electric Fields and The Veronicas.

Featuring the rare and beautiful voice of Zaachariaha Fielding (who often sings in his traditional languages of the Anangu people) and the brilliance of producer Michael Ross, Electric Fields’ music ranges from soulful pop to epic-scale electronic works. Their set will be both breathtaking and powerful.

Enjoy a live performance from The Veronicas – Jessica and Lisa Origliasso – as they take to the stage to belt out their biggest hits, from Hook Me Up to their latest single, Think of Me. With versatility and staying power, The Veronicas put on a show like no other.

Saturday is for grooving

Selling out shows from Surry Hills to Cairns, and having supported international acts including Elton John and Bryan Adams, Busby Marou is a much-loved Australian duo. They have created a completely unique vibe based on Tom’s everyman’s approach to storytelling interspersed with Jeremy’s guitar virtuosity.

Catch their singles Sound of Summer and Best Part of Me and get caught up in the joy emanating from Busby Marou.

Sunday is for laughing

Musical comedy duo (and identical twin brothers), the Stevenson Experience MC an epic line-up of comedy gold. Sunday will be headlined by the likeable and hilarious Urzila Carlson – a regular on television show, Have You Been Paying Attention.

Joining the line-up everyone’s favourite funny guy, Dave Hughes. With his unmistakably Aussie style, Hughsey turns everyday foibles into rich and hilarious comedy. And New Zealander Guy Montgomery brings his surreal style of bemoaning the everyday.

We’ve also got mischievous stand-up comedy from Becky Lucas, clever anecdotes from Nina Oyama, acerbic storytelling from local Anthony Tomic and quick-fire punchlines from Sam Taunton (known for his roving presenter spot on television’s The Project).

Immerse in the light

When you’re not catching the comedy or live tunes, there are two hero lighting installations to see at NightFest this year. Created by Mandylights (the same team behind Sydney’s award-winning Vivid Festival), these immersive works of art provide an illuminating experience.

The first, called Framed, is a series of 20 towering picture frames covered in thousands of pixels of LED lights. Together they create a stunning tunnel of spectacular light and audio. Enter the tunnel at the Rhododendron Garden for a truly magical encounter. This is the first installation in Australia of the 60-metre long artwork.

The second piece, Spheric, is a fifteen metre wide and eight-metre high dome ‘float’ on the still waters of Kangaroo Pond. Covered in nearly 3,000 individually controllable lights, the enormous globe of lights will be set to a mind-blowing musical soundtrack. In a first, visitors will be able to walk over the pond and through the centre of the artwork. It is sure to be the best #selfie spot of the night.

Tasty treats

Floriade is renowned for its choice of delicious market food, and NightFest is no different. It will be buzzing with food and drink options every night.

Grab some dinner or dessert from one of the many traders, or sit back at either the Capital Brewing Co. Bar or the Underground Spirits Bar for a pint, some bubbles or a cocktail.
