The Floriade Victory Garden proudly presented by the
Australian War Memorial

The Floriade Victory Garden will feature plants and vegetables reminiscent of those grown by Australian families during the Second World War – including many varieties now making a return to the backyard vegie patch‟ such as apple, beetroot, garlic,
chives, thyme, lettuce, parsnips, rhubarb, radishes and turnips among others.

Australian War Memorial staff and gardening celebrities alike will also be at Floriade with some fantastic gardening tips and to share the history of wartime kitchens and gardens. The Australian War Memorial will also host special Floriade themed presentations and tours at the Memorial during the month of Floriade to give visitors a glimpse into life on the Australian home front during the Second World War.

Digging for Victory
During the Second World War, as part of the 'Grow your own' campaign, Australian families had to cope with rationing, food shortages and price rises. Find out how they answered the call to produce food, form Garden Armies and create Victory Gardens. 17 September, 7 October

Poppies and Rosemary 'We will remember them'
